Regina "Jean" Acton Kern
Wilmington - Regina A. "Jean" Kern, age 90, of Wilmington, Delaware, died peacefully at home on April 20, 2018.
Jean graduated from P.S. DuPont High School and was a proud homemaker. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church for 70 years. She was an avid bowler, loved playing bridge and dancing. She was a Secular Franciscan and Professed Member of the San Damiano Fraternity. Jean served on the Bereavement Committee, was a Hospitality Member and worked with the Food Closet of Holy Rosary Church.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Robert of 50 plus years; her parents, William J. and Regina E. Acton; her sisters, Gertrude McGuinness, Margaret Farrell, Mary DiGiacoma, Barbara McNulty, Bernadette Strzalka, Patricia Bennett; and brother, William Acton Jr.
Jean is survived by her sisters, Sr. Frances Acton, OSF and Gerry Simpkiss; her children, Kathy Kern, Robert Kern (Joan), William (Bill) Kern (Debra), Tom Kern(Colleen) and Steve Kern(Beth); her 8 grandchildren, Jennifer, Tommy, Jill, Matthew, Ben, Melinda, Alexandra and Taylor; her 8 great-grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Emily, Charlie, Justin, Anastasia, Irene and Katalena, who kept her young.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Bear, DE. Friends may call on Tuesday evening, May 1, 2018 from 6-8 PM at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703.
