Luis Borrego Sr.
Corpus Christi, TX
Luis Borrego Sr. left this earth on April 22, 2018 at the young age of 74. While he fought a tough battle for 18 days in the hospital, eventually the Lord ended his suffering and called him Home to be with his daughter and his entire family that left this earth before him.
Luis was born on April 10, 1944 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Jessie and Leonor Borrego. He was raised by his grandparents, Cresencio and Timotea Martinez. He attended high school at Miller High School where he met the love of his life, Maria Segovia, in the 9th grade. They dated throughout high school and were married on Dec 23, 1962. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage and raised three children, Deborah Jones, Patricia Perez, and Luis Borrego Jr.
After a career in the military he and his wife decided to locate in Southern California. He worked as a mail carrier and supervisor for the US Postal Service. However, missing his kids and grandkids he and his wife decided to retire at the age of 50 and moved to Reno, NV to be closer to his kids, grandkids and soon to follow great-grandkids. There was nothing he wouldn't do for his family. After a couple retirement years he decided to become a bus driver for Washoe County Schools so that he could spend time with kids, which he loved to visit. He was known for buying school supplies and Christmas presents for the kids on his bus route. There were many parents and school bus children that commented their admiration and love for this man.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, grandparents, brother and daughter, Deborah Jones. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years (Maria), brothers (Raul and Ernest), sister (Rosa), step-brother (Charlie), two living children (Patricia and Luis Jr), 9 grandkids and 13 great- grandkids.
A rosary will be at 10am on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at La Paloma Mortuary, 5301 Longley, Bldg E-Suite 180, Reno, NV followed by a military service and burial at 12:30pm at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 14 Veterans Way, Fernley, NV.
