Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt
Fitchburg- Theresa M. (St. Peter) Basantes, 61, died Saturday, May 5, 2018 at HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital, after an illness.
She leaves her lifelong partner, Freddy J. Basantes Sr. of Leominster; one son, Freddy J Basantes Jr. of Southbridge; two daughters, Monica J. Molina of Durham, NC, wife of Roberto Molina and Syreeta C. Basantes with whom she lived; five grandchildren, Emily Maker-Lassard, Mya L. Basantes-Rodriguez, Owen Maker-Basantes, Eleanor Maker- Basantes and Akya P. Basantes; three brothers, Loren P. St. Peter of Ashburnham, Kevin C. St. Peter of Shirley and Edward A. St. Peter of Leominster; one sister Elizabeth A. Norman of San Antonio, TX, and several nieces and nephews. Theresa is predeceased by a daughter, Ana Basantes who died in 1979.
Theresa was born in Fitchburg on February 26, 1957, a daughter of the late Allen and Evelyn M. (Drury) St. Peter. She graduated from the Southern Careers Institute in 2017 with a certificate in Medical Billing and Coding. Theresa was a valued member of the medical billing teams of Burbank Hospital, Leominster Hospital and University Health Systems in San Antonio, TX. Prior to beginning her career in medical billing, Theresa spent many years in service to the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program, travelling throughout communities in Fitchburg, teaching critical nutrition skills to low income families. She was dearly loved by anyone that had the opportunity to get to know her. With a ready smile and a deep empathy, Theresa could sense your emotional needs whether family, friend, or stranger, and a stranger she never met. Just a friend she hadn't met yet.
Theresa's funeral will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Smith-Mallahy-
Masciarelli and the Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-
Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 243 Water Street, Fitchburg, MA
Burial will be private at St. Bernard Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Theresa's name to The COPD Foundation 3300 Ponce de Leon Blvd. Coral Gables, FL 33134

Theresa had a beautiful soul. She warmed my heart and brightened my days - through the good and bad - at my time at UHS. We shared so many stories of kids and her grandkids. She absolutely adored her grandchildren. Gone way too soon. Love and prayers to the family.

Auntie Puff is so sorry to hear about the lost of your mom. I know hard hard she fought to keep strong but her fighting strength couldn't hold on any longer. Embrace yourself with the memories,laughter and hugs you had with her and don't ever let them go. You really loved your mom and took care of her....
