Donna Mae Edwards Garn O'Maley, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 12, 2018, at Lincoln Court Retirement Community. She was under the care of her loving family and Encompass Hospice.
Donna was born March 31, 1928, in Rigby, to Arthur Chester Edwards and Erma Viola Hincks Edwards. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls.
She married Blaine Garn on May 2, 1946, in Idaho Falls. They had three children together. They were divorced in 1975. She married Charles O'Maley on March 31, 1978, in Jackson, Wyoming. Charlie passed away Sept. 27, 2002.
Donna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She was called to serve in the Primary as secretary and then served as a teacher. She also served as a teacher in the mutual and as dance director for her ward.
She loved to spend time with her family. She thoroughly enjoyed spending the winters in Arizona and the summers in Palisades. She was a great mother and an excellent cook. She enjoyed music, dancing, art, needlepoint, shopping for antiques and traveling. Her favorite vacation was traveling to Europe with her two sisters. They went to England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland.
Donna is survived by her sons, Steven Garn and Roger (Shellie) Garn, both of Idaho Falls; daughter, Terri (Scott) Heilesen, of Idaho Falls; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Erma Edwards; husband, Charles O'Maley; and sisters, Emma Lou Edwards, Billie Husbands and Carol Simpson.
The family expresses appreciation to Lincoln Court and Encompass for their hospitality and loving care.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, with Bishop Karl Winegar of the Parley Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in Ririe-Shelton Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
