Doris Evelyn Jeter
Shreveport - Miss Doris Evelyn Jeter, age 84, passed away in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Thursday, May 17, 2018. Graveside services will be held on Saturday May 19th at 10:30 a.m. at Shreveport's Greenwood Cemetery. Officiating will be Dr. Larry Williams, Pastor of Senior Adults at Broadmoor Baptist Church.
Doris was born on August 20, 1933 and was a lifelong resident of Shreveport, Louisiana. She graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1951 and Centenary College in 1955. She was the 1983 recipient of the Clyde E. Fant Memorial Award for Community Service, and was active in the United Way of Shreveport, serving on its Board, the Desk and Derrick Club, Women's Department Club, and Sigma Kappa Alumni Association, and a long time and active member of Broadmoor Baptist Church. She was a 30 year employee of Murco Drilling Corp., retiring as a Vice President. Doris relocated to Baton Rouge, where she resided for the last three years.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, DeWitt T. and Dovie Waggoner Jeter. She is survived by her brother, Jack D. Jeter and his wife, Rita, of Prairieville, Louisiana; nephew, Jeffrey D. Jeter and his wife, Kelley, and their children Jackson, Samuel, and Laurel Kate, all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and niece, Leigh Ann Jeter, of Prairieville, Louisiana.

To Doris Evelyn's family ~ am leaning on God for you all, knowing it is He who comforts the most. I didn't know Doris Evelyn, but am also a Sigma Kappa alumni. It was years ago at LA Tech.
