Amalia Vasquez De Matamoros, 98, passed away in Metairie, Louisiana on May 19, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Macario Daniel and Tomasa Vasquez; husband, Gabino Matamoros Cruz; daughter, Teresina Matamoros; six brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Yolanda Johnson (Edgardo Rabel), Sandra Matamoros and Brenda Pisano (the late James); grandchildren, Melissa Godwin (Steven Ray), Christopher David Johnson (Tina), Andrew Pisano and Angela Maria Pisano; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Danielle, Jessica and Jennivee; great great-grandchild, Bentley Rich-Avant; and a host of nieces and nephews. She accepted Christ as her savior and was involved with the work of God throughout her life. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother; a sweet and Godly Lady. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, May 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the interment will follow the funeral service at All Saints Mausoleum.
