Martin A. Mahon
Hammonton - On May 23, 2018 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Age 55 years. Born February 12, 1963 in Camden, NJ., Martin has been a resident of Winslow Twp., NJ for the last 25 years. As a young child, he was educated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel; Eastern High School Class of 1981; Gloucester County College continuing to his B.A. at Rutgers University in 1987. As a teenager Martin engaged in the sport of wrestling and was an elite wrestler at Eastern Regional High School. Then onto Gloucester County College he was an Academic All American and male athlete of the year at Rutgers University.
He was employed as a Union Carpenter with the Philadelphia Carpenters Union Local 8. Martin was a master carpenter and craftsman every job ever handled needed to be perfect as shown in all is work. He was a loving father and grandfather. He was an avid outdoors man. Especially camping, sailing, snowboarding, master horticulturist, and riding his Harley Davidson with his band of brothers. He was an extreme adventurist that embraced life with a smile and determination. He left a mark on each person he touched.
Martin is survived by the love of his life, fiancé, Brigid Bartley. Loving son of John and Mary Mahon. Devoted father of Sean, Ian, Erin, and Zachary McCart (Irene) his children are truly the apple of his eyes. Proud grandfather of Ashley. Dear brother of Maryellen White (Joe), Maureen Bush (Bob), Colin (Priscilla), Michael (Connie), Barry (Diane), Kathleen Browne (Chan), Matthew (Brenna) and the late John P. Mahon. Brother in law of the late Thomas White and uncle of the late Anthony Inzillo. Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday morning 9:30AM-11:00AM St. Simon Stock Parish Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 178 W. White Horse Pike Berlin, NJ 08009. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00AM. Interment of ashes will take place Gate of Heaven Cemetery Berlin, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Martin's children's college fund c/o Michael Mahon, P.O. Box 262, Cape May Point, NJ 08212.
