Leward Emil Winter, 78, Rosebud, went to be with his Savior Friday, May 25, 2018.
Leward was born April 20, 1940, the son of Edwin Winter and wife Alma, nee Holtgrewe. He was united in marriage to Beverly Nolting June 23, 1962, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rosebud. After graduating, from Owensville High School in 1958, Leward went into the construction trade and was a dedicated carpenter until his retirement in 2002. Leward was raised on a farm north of Rosebud, and that love stayed with him. He enjoyed raising cattle and the work that it involved. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening and woodworking in his shop.
The joy of his life however, was his children and grandchildren, and in January, he became a great-grandpa. Anytime he could help his family with projects or ideas, he would always be there for them. His devoted, loving, giving heart will always be remembered. Leward loved the Lord and read his Bible daily. He was a continual witness of his faith to his family, friends and all those he met. An active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rosebud, he served many years as past secretary of the church, secretary of the dual parish, and as elder. He also belonged to and supported the Gideons, where he helped distribute Bibles to hospitals, police departments and schoolchildren. In his younger days, he enjoyed working with the youth and taught youth and adult Bible classes for many years.
