Although I did not know Evan well, I was greatly looking forward to coaching him in football this coming fall. His previous coaches and teachers spoke very highly of Evan's character and abilities and it is obvious how much he was loved by his family and friends. To see the amount of people at the church yesterday was truly a testament to the young man that Evan was and the impact that he made during his time here on Earth. My family and I offer our prayers and deepest sympathies during this time of mourning.

You don't know me but I heard about your sons passing from our schools wrestling coach. I have a 14 yr old son at Cros lex high school who has run hurdles against two of your boys. My son also wrestled at the middle school last year. My heart hurts for you as you go through this difficult journey. I lost my 18 yr old son in Sept 2015. We also celebrated his life at the same funeral home. I know there are no words that can make things easier. Knowing that there are others who have traveled down this road sometimes helps. I found some comfort with other moms who have also lost children. I know I'm a complete stranger but if you ever need a listening ear, feel free to reach out. As a man of many words, I am found with none. Evan touched the life of my son Brendan during wrestling and our family as well. He was always So great with the younger kids. Always quick to mentor them. To the Battani family as a whole, you guys are a pillar in the community and will be for years to come.
