Julieta (Julie) Portillo lived a life that was definitely worth living; she was a warrior, feminist, and she fought for her independence until the very end. Her work ethic was unparalleled. She was a working, single mother in the 60s who immigrated to this country alone in the 70s and worked 3 jobs to make ends meet.
She met the love of her life, Alfonso and lived the best years of her life with him. They complemented each other perfectly. They opened up a small business doing what they both loved. Now they are together again to continue their love story. Through her drive and perseverance, she invented a process to infuse precious metals into quartz and she named this process Millennium Quartz. Don't be surprised if in 5 years you see all the angels in portraits wearing fire opal necklaces and have quartz covering their wings.
Along her incredible journey she had 4 children. Through words and her example, she taught them the value of an education, hard work, and how to live with dignity. She finished her bachelor's degree at nearly 60 years old. The love she leaves behind will continue for eternity through her family and friends.
It was exactly the moment she was assured by her children that she did an amazing job raising them and that they would be fine to perpetuate her legacy, that she agreed to let go and leave this world peacefully.

Grandma,
I miss you so very much. It's been hard being here and not been there for you when you needed me. I will forever have you in my heart and Ana will hear how much of an amazing and stron woman you were. I will tell her about all the things you have taught me growing up and all your accomplishments and definitely how much you loved her! There is not a second that goes by and I wish I could reverse time and prevent this to happen. I had so many plans this summer for me to come out there and see you and spend time with you. I miss you so very much, but I know grandpa has received you with open arms. I love you so much forever and always. Until we meet again my guardian angel.
