New Deal- Our beloved mother, Virginia Maxine Martin, age 81, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 9, 2018 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born June 11, 1936 to Delphia Marie and Charles Schnyder Wales in Floydada, Texas. She graduated from New Deal High School in 1954 and attended Draughn Business College. She married Jimmie Murrell Martin on April 19, 1959 in New Deal, Texas. Maxine worked at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service for several years. She then later started a furniture refinishing business. Maxine was a beloved mother and housewife. She was a member of the BYKOTA Sunday school class at First Baptist Church New Deal where she had many dear friends. She also worked as a volunteer at the Covenant Hospital gift shop. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Jim Martin, her parents, Delphia and Charles Wales, three sisters, Wanda Kidd, Imogene Jones, and Marie Upton. Maxine is survived by her two children, son Keno Martin and wife, Leslie , and son Kevin Martin both of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Caleb, Jimmy, Allison Martin, and Trent Cathey; brother C.S. Wales and wife, Lois of Dimmitt, Texas. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 10 am at First Baptist Church in New Deal. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church New Deal P.O. Box 237, New Deal, Texas 79350.
