Wayne, on my 86th special day, my first thoughts are the pride I feel in your accomplishments, your enthisiasm for BDPA. I know as you look down you are also bursting with pride at the accomplishments of your progeny. God has been good to all of us. Mom

To the Hicks Family,

Recently I learned of the loss of Wayne, you beloved Father, Son, Brother and family member.

I had the honor of working with Wayne when he was in the Detroit Chapter of the BDPA. His leadership, speeches and words of wisdom and his infectious positive and energetic spirit will live in us all. He was second to none in his love and passion for the BDPA organization and his contribution will go down in the books of the organization. He was one of the BDPA´s G.O.A.T.

Wayne, it was an honor and pleasure to serve with you my dear friend. I celebrate your life and legacy. I will miss you, but you are loved and never forgotten my brother. Rest In Peace.

To the Hicks family and Wayne´s children, May the Holy Spirit give you comfort and peace. Wayne spoke about you often and loved you so very much.

With God´s Love, Grace and Peace,
Crystal Davis

I just learned of Wayne's passing and am so saddened. Was a co-worker for many years with IRS and kept in touch from time to time. Had no idea he was ill.

As a Director at the IRS in Covington, Kentucky, Wayne supported the local chapter of Toastmasters International. Although his busy schedule precluded him from attending meetings on a regular basis, we cherished his uplifting speeches and participation when he was able to attend. Our group extends our deepest sympathy to Wayne's family!

Wayne was a trailblazer at the IRS, and I believe he was named one of Cincinnati's top leaders under 40. Wayne was a terrific communicator, and I still remember a number of stories he'd tell us to keep morale up. Rest in Peace, sir, and thank you once again for helping me with my career "back in the day."

Sincerely,
Tom Miller, the grade 11 employee he entrusted to "act" as director 2 weeks after 9/11 when he and ALL his managers were meeting in another state -- likely my career highlight!

I always will remember Wayne's dedication to documenting the historic lineage and accomplishments of the Crockett family. His grandfather, George W. Crockett, Jr., was my uncle, the brother of my mother Alzeda Crockett Hacker. Wayne has left a legacy of determined thoroughness to ensure the nature and history of our family endures. He always will be missed and remembered as a thinker, doer, and contributor to the work of supportive teaching to make lives better.
Rest well, Wayne. You will not be forgotten, and always will be loved.

Wayne was always a kind and respectful young man. He loved his family and labored diligently to make a positive impact in the lives of others, especially in the lives of African Americans. He will be missed.

Fond remembrances of Wayne as a toddler and during his growing up years when I used to babysit. Prayers and Love. Cousin Judy

I think about Wayne all the way back to the fun haircuts on St. Andrews in the late '60s, the time we worked together in the wee hours of the morning in Inglewood in the '70s, vivid recollections of clever, comedic conversations we had at family reunions and his visits here in LA. All too brief and far too few. But what incredible intellect and talent he possessed and enormous pride he engendered. Thanks be to God, this life is not all there is . . . Continuing to love you Cousin. ~ Mark
