JORDAN DONALD JOSEPH
Donald Joseph Jordan, 78, of Baldwin Boro, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 15, 2018. Husband of 23 years to Katherine (Kunkel) until her death in 1987; father of Carolyn Mader (Larry Schiller), Denise (Brian) Barefoot, and Michelle (Scott) Wertelet; grandfather of Dr. Stefanie Mader (Dr. Ines Kananda), Nicholas Schiller, Noah, Maya, and Sienna Wertelet, and Thomas, Kelly, and Erin Barefoot; brother of Sylvia (John) Bowen, Nancy (the late James) McDonald, Linda Mazek, Debbie D'Odorico and Angelo D'Odorico; and son of the late Angelo (Banjo) and Julia Jordan. Don served in the US Navy aboard the USS Independence from 1958-1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a police officer for the Baldwin Boro Police Department for 25 years while also running his own mechanic garage performing state inspections and fixing nearly every problem a vehicle could have. A devout Catholic who liked to garden, Don loved to spend time with his sisters, daughters, and grandchildren, and was very proud of his family. He was also very happy to sip a bourbon Manhattan playing a slot machine in Vegas, or taking a ride with good friend, Ed Schillo, to help someone who needed a hand. We will dearly miss his loyalty, honesty, and sound advice, but take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his beloved wife, Kathy, and faithful companions, Haley and Lucky. Special thanks to Dr. Michael McGonigal and Dr. Martin Earle for providing years of excellent care. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. and Monday, June 18, 2018 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills, 15236. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Church. Entombment at Jefferson Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Condolences may be left at www.jeffersonmemorial.biz.
