Jan. 14, 1966 - June 20, 2018
MISHAWAKA - James (Jim) F. Horvath, 52, passed away on Wed., June 20, 2018. Jim was born Jan. 14, 1966 in South Bend, IN to the late Frigyes (Fred) Horvath & Alberta (Haynes) Garrison. Jim worked many years as a self-employed brick mason. He took great pride in creating & building beautiful brick work on many of the historical, commercial, and residential buildings throughout the Michiana area. At a young age, Jim inspired his brother Jeff to become a brick mason & mentored him in the trade. Jim was a devoted son who cared & admired his mother deeply. Over the years they enjoyed spending time together & occasionally you would find them at a local restaurant dining and enjoying each other's company. Jim touched the lives of many people with his big personality, boisterous voice, smile, and generosity that will be missed by his family and friends. He truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures - chatting with friends and family, cooking, or just watching a movie. He appreciated the outdoors & loved spending time fishing the St. Joe River for Walleye. He took pleasure in helping animals and had a big heart for dogs. Jim will be forever remembered by his brother, Jeff (Christine) Horvath of Mishawaka, IN; sister, Heidi (Jeff) Sellers of New Palestine, IN; and stepson, Chad Love of Mishawaka, IN. Family will receive visitors on Sunday, June 24 from 1pm-2pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home located at 10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola. A Service of Remembrance will follow at Chapel Hill at 2pm.
