Lois Daugherty Obituary

Lois M. Daugherty, 86, DuBois, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 at her home.
Born September 19, 1931 in Sabula, she was the daughter of the late Ralph E. and Lilly Mae (Kessler) Kness.
On June 16, 1950, she married Chester H. Daugherty in DuBois at the United Church of Christ. He survives.
Lois graduated from Sandy High School in 1949. She worked with challenged adults and handicapped children and was a homemaker. Lois was a member of the United Church of Christ in Sabula (Boone Mt.) and attended Hickory Methodist Church. She was a 4-H leader for 15 years, organized a homemakers' group, was a lifetime member of Hickory Grange #1285 and Sabula Fire Co. Auxiliary, and was active in church affairs, having taught Bible and Sunday Schools. Lois enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, completing puzzles, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Lois is survived by three children, Henry Daugherty, Wayne (Barbara) Daugherty, and Marie (Rick) Allhouse, all of DuBois; eight grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Wells, Brookville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings: William, James, Donald, Arthur, Dale, and Burdette Kness and Ida Mae Delp.
Friends and family will be received Sunday, June 24, from 6-8 p.m. and Monday, June 25, from 10-11 a.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc., DuBois. Following Monday's visitation, a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel with Rev. Harold Brunner officiating. Interment will be in Beechwoods Cemetery.
