ELGIN - Marjorie (Marge) C. Magden, 90, of Dixon, IL formerly of Elgin, IL passed away on July 05, 2018 at Serenity House in Oregon, IL, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 17, 1927 in Batavia, IL the daughter of Carl and Helen (Bockhus) Johnson. Marjorie graduated from Elgin High School in 1945. She married the love of her life, Ralph Magden, on October 6th, 1949. She worked at Cooper's Drugstore, Ackerman's and at Illinois Bell and then became a full-time mother. Marjorie later volunteered at Jefferson Grade School as a kindergarten aide and worked as an election volunteer for the county for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was an avid golfer, card player and a life-long Cubs fan. Go CUBS!! She will be deeply missed. She is survived by her son David Magden of Columbus, OH and her daughter Diane Schmitto (Randy Anders) of Pennington Gap, VA and her faithful companion Truffy. She is also survived by her brother Alan (Linda) Johnson of South Elgin, IL and her sister Elaine Jacqmein of Dunnellon, Florida. Last but not least, she is survived by her favorite "double cousin" Betty Hansford from St. Charles, IL. Marjorie has 5 nephews and 2 nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Magden, her parents Carl and Helen Johnson, and her sister, Sharyn D. Nelson. Funeral services will be on Saturday July 14th, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will follow at Bluff City Cemetery. Family will receive people from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Serenity Hospice & Home, 1658 IL-2, Oregon, IL 60161.
