Everett "Bud" LeRoy Chapman
Happy Valley - Everett "Bud" LeRoy Chapman peacefully passed away at his residence in Happy Valley, Oregon on Saturday, June 28th, 2018. He was born September 8th, 1926 in Richland, Oregon to Merton and Geneva Chapman and was a lifetime resident of Oregon.
Bud graduated from Eagle Valley High School in Richland, Oregon before enlisting in the U.S. Navy where he served as a yeoman during WWII. After the war, he worked as a lineman for both Pavers Co. in Portland as well as the Tillamook People's Utility District. Bud then worked for the Oregon State Police as a patrolman in the Dalles for 18 years before transferring to the Identification Bureau Headquarters in Salem to pursue handwriting identification for the Questioned Document Division. He retired as a lieutenant in 1980 and continued his forensic documentation work for a few years following.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Wilkes; his two sons, James Lee Chapman and wife Joanne of Spencerport, NY, and Loren Neil Chapman and wife Sandra of Milwaukie, OR; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Bud was proceeded in death by his brother Harold (June) of Caldwell, Idaho and his sister Ifa E. Balfour of Eugene, OR.
His primary hobbies and activities over the years were fishing, hunting, and golf with family, friends and colleagues.
During their years living in Woodburn, he very much enjoyed his fellowship with the parishioners of Woodburn Christian Church. Remembrances in his name can be made to the Woodburn Christian Church to help with their continuing ministries.

Bud was one of my coaches when I came on the department in 1961 (I went thru several !),so you always have a special feeling for your coach and He and Mary Jane treated Kay and I like family.Sorry to hear of his passing ,but he is in a geater place now.

So sorry to hear of his passing. Bud and I worked together for years at headquarters in Salem. When he was in The Dalles I worked in La Grande. Good golfer and fisherman. Great guy to work with.

We were so sad to hear of Bud's passing. We have good memories of all our visits with him and Mary Jane in Yuma and all the shared emails.
He had so many stories to tell and was such a nice man. We will miss him are praying for him.
