DeLucia, Julia
Julia Passariello DeLucia, 102, of East Haven died peacefully on July 15, 2018 at Connecticut Hospice with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Angelo DeLucia. She was born in New Haven on October 16, 1915 to the late Rafael and Annunziata Passariello. Julia was an only child and that made her strong and independent. "My religion helped me through hard times and I thanked God every day for my life and my good health." She worked well into her 80's to give her family the very best. Her employers were the New Haven Clock Shop, Echlin Manufacturing, Sargents, Long's Florist, Quinnipiac Club and Xpect Discounts while also taking care of her mother until her mom was 94. Julia said good genes and her deep trust and devotion to God contributed to her longevity. The cornerstone of her life was her religion and the greatest joy and accomplishment was her family. She loved her daughters Phyllis (Louis) Piccerillo and Nancy (Gerald) Paolella. She adored her grandchildren Louis A. and Angela Piccerillo, Julianne Paolella and Deana (Mark) Lattanzio and her beloved great grandson, Anthony. Being deeply religious and a parishioner of St. Bernadette for over sixty-three years, her strong faith has been instilled in her family, down to her great grandson, Anthony, whom she was so proud of being an Altar Server. Julia lived an active lifestyle enjoying country dancing, gardening, swimming, playing Bingo and making her famous lasagna for the family. Her granddaughter Angela promised her the gift that her family would take her to the beach, and so she spent her last day outside at Hospice surrounded by the sounds and smells of the ocean which were so much a part of her life and gave her peace.
