Robert Schweizer Obituary

Published by Logan Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc - Malvern on Aug. 21, 2018.
Robert "Bob" Schweizer of West Chester, PA passed away on Tuesday, August 21 at Chester County Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 73. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Linda (nee Malandra), his two sons R. David (Rachael) of Downingtown, J. Matthew (Laura) of Phoenixville, four beautiful grandchildren Amanda (21), Alex (19), Isabel (15) and Ian (12), and his sister Joan Firth (nee Schweizer) of Ridley Park as well as nieces and nephews living across the country. He is preceded in death by his brother Richard of Phoenix, AZ and his parents Frank and Dolores (nee Larkin) of Barnagate, NJ. Bob was born on April 10, 1945 in Ridley Park to Frank and Dolores Schweizer. He graduated from St. James High School in 1963. Bob was an active member of the St. James Bulldogs Alumni Association and could be seen regularly attending the Dog Pound with his friends and classmates. As a reservist, Bob honorably served the Navy as a parachute rigger for 6 years. On May 11, 1968 he married his high school sweetheart Linda and after a short time in Glenolden, moved to Aston to begin their life together. Bob worked tirelessly while attending night school and after 9 years, he graduated from St. Joseph's University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After graduation from St. Joe's, Bob began working at AT&T for the next 30 years and spent the last 15 years with the Philadelphia Visitor's Channel in Media, PA. He was an active and dedicated member of the community and his church - spending many years on the Sagamore HOA Board where he was lovingly nicknamed "the Snowman." Bob's passion for his family was immeasurable. He was a generous man who loved to travel, enjoy a fine cigar and a good glass of wine. He spent winters with his wife in Naples, FL and enjoyed annual trips with his beloved friends and family. With a passion for the written word, Bob was an avid reader on a broad range of topics from world politics to American history - peppering in a good detective series from time to time. Although well read, with a healthy vocabulary, he chose his words carefully, speaking when most appropriate and with conviction. His last name Schweizer, meaning "of Swiss decent", was fitting as Bob was known to have mastered the power of a pocket knife. Friends and Family are welcome to gather for services scheduled on Wednesday, August 29th at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church,15 East Pleasant Grove Rd., West Chester, PA 19382. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. with Mass at 10:30 a.m. After mass, burial services will be held at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA 19064 All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bob's life. A loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, brother and brother in law he brought many happy memories that we will hold onto as these days go by. We will surely miss him for life now has a void that no one could possibly fill. RIP Always Loving You, Jeanette and Ron
