Robert Bailey Obituary

Robert C. Bailey, age 84, of Rockton, Pa., passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at his home after a long, 5-year battle with cancer.
Robert was born July 12, 1934, in Curwensville, Pa., the son of the late Clifford and Miriam (Swatsworth) Bailey.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy Reserves (1952-1960), having served during the Korean Conflict.
On April 16, 1956, he married the love of his life Ruth (Jacobs) Bailey. She survives.
He retired in 1994, from General Electric as an Appliance Service Technician, which from this came his nickname, "GE Bob" as he was known by many. For many years, "GE Bob" worked for Grampian Hardware refurbishing used appliances for resale. As a result of his many years there, owner John Bloom and daughter Stacy Best became a second family to him. He treasured their friendship and their love.
He was a lifetime member of the Rockton Volunteer Fire Dept, and sat on the board of the Rockton Cemetery Committee for many years.
Robert, a saved born-again Christian since 1972, was a member of the Gelnett Memorial Church where he held the position of head deacon and song director.
He is also survived by his beloved children: Janell Allen and her husband Warren of Parrish, Fla., Denise Woods and her husband Lyle of DuBois, Pa., Tammy Johnson of Lake Worth, Fla., and Brian Bailey and his wife Virginia of Topeka, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Bailey and his wife Martha of Norton, Ohio, Pastor Sherman Bailey and his wife Pam of Akron, Ohio; three sisters, Nancy Conrad and her husband Blaine of Alton, Mo., Dixie Horn of Rockton, Pa., and Pat Marley and her husband Bob of Rockton, Pa.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., DuBois.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 1 p.m. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., with Pastor Sherman Bailey and Pastor Bill Davis officiating.
Interment will be in the Rockton Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
Memorials may be placed with the Gelnett Memorial Church, 5990 Home Camp Road, DuBois, PA 15801.

Prayers to the Bailey family. I remember fondly the nights spent overnight at the Bailey home. You were always so welcoming. True role models for me in high school and I am forever grateful. I can still hear Ruth calling me Kelley. God Bless!
