John Stofan, Jr.
John Stofan, Jr., age 93, a lifelong resident of Joliet, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 with his loving family by his side.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Lucille Stofan (nee Jones); daughter Susan Marie (Kevin) O'Toole; son, William (Margaret Williams) Stofan; sister, Betty Ann Miner; grandson, Jack Stofan; step-children, MaryEllen (Jeff) Ruedin and Paul (Susan) Giugler; five step-grandchildren, six great step-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth "Betty" Stofan Sr.; son, Michael (Claudia) Stofan; brother, George M. (Irene) Stofan; sister, MaryEllen Ciuffini; and bother-in-law, Lucien Miner.
John was a veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater as a paratrooper with the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division.
He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus Council #382, VFW Cantigny Post #367, and the Joliet Elks Lodge #296.
John formerly operated a print shop in Joliet for many years. He was also employed by the Valley View School District and the WILCO Area Community Center as an instructor in graphic arts. Most recently, he was employed by Stofan, Agazzi and Company Inc.
A celebration of John's life with begin on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd. Joliet, IL with a visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Per John's wishes, Cremation Rites have been accorded.
