Charles Cerk, age 81, of Waukegan, peacefully passed away on August 25, 2018. He graduated from Waukegan HS in 1954. He served in the US Army from April 19, 1956 to March 26, 1958. He retired from US Steel and Abbott Laboratories. He was a member of Zion-Benton Moose Lodge 667, Abbott Men's Club, US Steel Retirees Club, and Slovenic National Home. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Janet; daughters, Cheryl (Roger) Kreul and Caryn (Tony) Martin; six grandchildren, Alex (Robin) Kreul, Zachary Kreul, Mitchell Kreul, Angelica Kreul, Lauren Ripley, and Benjamin Tollefson; great-grandchild, Michael John; and brother-in-law Dan (Pat) Furlan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lisle Cerk; sister, Jean Bauer; and nephew, Craig Bauer. Visitation will be Friday, August 31 from 4-8pm and Saturday, September 1 from 10-11am, service will begin at 11am, at Gurnee Salata Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Ave, Gurnee, IL 60031. Interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.
