Shirley J. Wooten, 82, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at her home in Rochelle. Shirley was born on July 21, 1936 to Frank and Edith (Clarke) Jacox in DeKalb, IL. She worked for Avery Dennison in Rochelle for many years before retiring in 1998. Before and after Avery, she provided home daycare, caring for over 100 children.
In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by four of her siblings, Frank Jacox, Jr., Merle Jacox, Alice McMahan, Gloria Jacox.
Shirley is survived by six children, Vickie (James) Babb of Collegeville, PA, Deanna Wooten of Rochelle, Jesse (June) Wooten of Earlville, IA, Rhonda Starr and John (Deborah) Wooten both of Rochelle, and Nancy Poe of Pekin, IL; four siblings, Gerald (Joyce) Jacox, Charlotte (James) Kalk, Irene Thomas, and Beverly (Lonnie) Smith; 12 grandchildren, A.J. Babb, Westen Babb, Kyle Wooten, Abbie Wooten, Brooke Wooten, Lucas Starr, Megan (Tim) South, Tarah Wooten, Madison Wooten, Austin Wooten, Dane Poe and Olivia Poe; eight great grandchildren, Chase, Elijah, Silas, and Paxton Babb, Oaklyn and Laiklyn South and Brayden and McKinley Moser; and special friend, Amy Hurd, who became a blessing and a friend while in hospice care.
The visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral will follow at 7:00 P.M., Friday evening with Pastor Corey Gilliam officiating. A private burial will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in DeKalb, IL. Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home.
