Gladys S. Estey, 96 of Newcastle, ME, passed away on the morning of August 29th at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. Born on March 26, 1922 in Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of Frank and Bernice Sisson. She worked at Travelers Insurance in Connecticut before moving to Maine in 1971. She had been a communicant of St. Patrick's Catholic Church since moving to Maine and was a long time volunteer at Miles Memorial Hospital. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years, Robert L. Estey; brother-in-law, Richard Sisson; as well as a dear sister-in-law, Ann Sisson. She is survived by three sons, Stephen M Estey and his wife Trudy, James R. Estey and his wife Vicki, and Thomas R. Estey and his wife Jill; a daughter, Jeanine M. Sullivan and her husband Mark; grandsons, Colin Sullivan, Jon Estey and his wife Kyla, Jeffrey Estey and Bryan Estey and his wife Mariann; granddaughter, Aimee Morrison; great-grandchildren, Lucas Morrison, Corey Estey and Zakk Estey. A wake will be held from 5:00-7:00pm, on Thursday, September 6th at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00am, on Friday, September 7th at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Newcastle. She will be laid to rest privately, with her husband, in the Hopkins Cemetery in Jefferson. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME 04543.
