Betty Haviland Obituary

Betty M. Haviland

Durham - Mrs. Betty M. Haviland of Durham, NC passed away peacefully at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh, on August 29, 2018, surrounded by her children. Betty was born September 10, 1934 in Murphy, NC to the late Felix and Irene Meroney.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Linda Pistole (David) of Raleigh, NC and Brenda Davis of Asheville, NC; son, Robert Lineback, Jr. (Cindy) of Charlotte, NC and stepson, David Haviland (Jane) of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Carl Meroney of Columbus, NC. Her six grandchildren and five great grandchildren were the greatest joy in her life. She was also blessed with nieces and a nephew.

Mrs. Haviland was preceded in death by her husband, Major Harold David Haviland; sisters, Margaret Warner and Nancy Moore; brother-in-law, Ben Warner and sister-in-law, Becky Meroney.

Attending Brenau College in Gainesville, GA, she was named "Miss Bubbles" for her friendly personality. She worked part-time at the University Mall where she was known and loved as Ms. Betty by mall employees. In typical fashion, Ms. Betty was a grandmother to so many and a friend to all.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 3:00PM on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in the Chapel of Walker's Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service and immediately following the service in the funeral parlor.
