MARIA MONTOYA Obituary

Our Beloved Mother, Maria San Juana Montoya, went to be with our Heavenly Father and the love of her life the evening of September1, 2018. Our mother went peacefully in her sleep surrounded by children and grandchildren. Our mother was born August 23, 1934 to Ambrosio and Anna Cleta Cabello in a ranch at Cienega de Toro, Nuevo Leon Mexico. Losing her mother at a young age and being the only daughter of the family she had to grow up fast and raise her brothers. To her four brothers she was their princess and they treated her accordingly. Mom met our Dad, Jose Montoya then they moved to Sweetwater and together raised our big family. To her children she was and always will be our Queen. Together they taught us, that we should work hard and be the best that we can be. Show respect, do for others and expect nothing in return. Treat everyone the same. Our Mother expected this even more when we lost our Father in 2000. Our Mother loved each and every one of us in her own special way and because of that we all know we're her favorite. Our Mother was an amazing cook and if you ever ate her food, you know what we are talking about. Visitors were never allowed to leave the house without having ate one of her authentic meals, fresh homemade tortillas and drank her sweet tea. We have been blessed to have such a wonderful Mother and we all have many beautiful memories of her that will keep us going. She was feisty and if you got on her bad side, you know she was a force to be reckoned with, as some of those who took care of her knew. She was a strong woman to the end! She was preceeded in death by her husband Jose M. Montoya Sr. Her parents Ambrosio and Anna Cleta Cabello, her brothers Manuel, Edmondo and Melecio Cabello She is survived by her brother, Antonio Cabello of Cienga Del Toro, her children, Juan Montoya of Sweetwater, Oralia Montoya of Sweetwater, Edmond and Gina Montoya of San Angelo, Julian and Martha Montoya of Sweetwater, Rudy and Elvia Ramirez of Lubbock, Lilly and Bo Moncivais of Bryan, Michael and Jill Montoya of San Angelo, Joe Montoya of Sweetwater, Jeff Montoya of Sulphur Springs, Texas and 22 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Valerie Pruitt and the staff at Hospice of West Texas also to her caregivers, Brandy, Melissa, Mandy, Whitney, Norma, Andrea at Nolan Nursing Home for the exceptional care they gave our mother. Jessica Whiteside and Shanna Laughton, thank you for everything. Pallbearers will be her sons, Juan Montoya, Edmond Montoya, Julian Montoya, Rudy Ramirez, Michael Montoya, and Joe Montoya Jr. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Pastor Francisco Ortega officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. A family visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Online condolence may be expressed at www.mccoyfh.com.
