Regis E. Orock, 85, of Portersville passed away peacefully Friday at his home.
Born Oct. 21, 1932, in Fombell, he was the son of the late William C. and Keturah McFarland Orock. He was married to Virginia Myers Orock for 64 years. She survives.
Regis worked at the Honey Creek Stone/City Asphalt, where he was a master mechanic, teaching apprentices to run heavy equipment for 28 years. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 66. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict, later serving the National Guard for 11 years. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a lifetime member and director of the Portersville Steam Show. Regis enjoyed dirt track racing at the local racetracks. He built his own cars and his son Doug raced them. He was active with the Boy Scouts. He was extremely proud of, and rarely missed, his grandchildren's activities. His most cherished times were spent with his family.
Along with his wife, survivors include a daughter, Udora (John) Veltre of New Castle; a son, Doug (Pam) Orock of Hermitage; a sister, Mary Jane Orock of Texas; brother, Gerald "Peewee" (Patty) Orock of Ellwood; five grandchildren, Johna, John, Stephanie, Stacia and Sheldon; and a great-granddaughter, Ella.
He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Bill (Marlene) Orock, and two nephews, Randy and Jerry Orock.
OROCK - Visiting hours for Regis E. Orock, who died Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 11, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, with the Rev. Keith Black officiating, at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave., Ellwood City. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard.
The family wants to thank Vitas Hospice and Dr. Nora Flores-Paras and a special thank you to his niece, Sandy Goldbach.
