Thelma Joan Wood Dulaney

Joan Dulaney, of Lubbock formerly of Haskell passed away September 21, 2018, at the age of 89. Graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm, Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Willow Cemetery in Haskell, Texas with Dusty Garrison presiding.
Joan was born September 19, 1929 in Haskell County Texas, the youngest of six children, to Henry L. and Josie (McBride) Wood. She graduated from Haskell High School in 1946, and married Desmond T. Dulaney in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1996.
She was employed by Lone Star Gas Company for over 37 years, and worked at Haskell County Senior Citizens Center following her retirement. She served on the board of First Christian Church, Haskell, and as board secretary for seven years. She was later a member of First Christian Church, Lubbock. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, playing card games with her grandkids, and playing the next slot machine.
Joan was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers, a great-grandson, and two dachshunds (both named Fritz). Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Brian Dulaney (and wife Claire) of Lubbock; granddaughter, Angela Mitchell (and husband Jon) of Bedford; grandson, Cole Dulaney (and wife Suzanne) of Dallas; great-grandsons, Aiden, Evan, and Owen Mitchell, and Jake, Walker, and Sam Dulaney; and nine nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
A visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. September 24, 2018 with family receiving friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Combest Family Funeral Homes, 2210 Broadway, Lubbock. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a charity of your choice.
