Paul R. Arel, 78, of Manchester, husband of the late Mary Anna (Machie) Arel, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, at Manchester Memorial Hospital.
Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late George C. and Roseanna (Barselou) Arel. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and had retired from Wire Mold after more than 40 years of service. Paul was a communicant of St. Bridget Church, Manchester.
He is survived by his daughter, Theresa Shaw and her husband, James, of East Hartford; his brother, George Arel and his wife, Susan, of Florida; his sister, Marguerite Siderowf of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, at 9:15 a.m. from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester, followed by burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m.
