Edward Kuehner Obituary

Edward J. Kuehner, age 92, of Corning, passed away on Monday October 1, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on September 26, 1926 in Scranton, PA, the son of William and Anna (Merkel) Kuehner. He married Sue A. Senkulics on August 13, 1949 at St. Mary's Church in Corning. She predeceased him on April 2, 2006.

Edward retired from Corning Glass Works in 1983 following 37 years of service and he was a veteran of the US Marine Corps serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He made many friends while walking at the mall, dining at Bob Evans and The Central, and he liked Wintergreen Life Savers. Edward was a member of the Knights of Columbus, life member of the Campbell American Legion and Corning VFW

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Elmer and Fredaann "Freddie" Kuehner of Campbell, Richard and Jeanette Kuehner of Horseheads, and daughter-in-law, Deborah Kuehner of Corning; grandchildren, Ashley of Campbell, Zachary of Corning, Shawn (Tory) of Wilmington, NC, Nicole of Corning, Christopher of Horseheads, Joseph (Michelle) of Nashville, TN, Elizabeth of Greenville, SC, Stephanie of Corning, and Amber of Horseheads, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by his infant son Edward and son, Thomas Kuehner, and seven brothers and two sisters.

Family and friends are invited to call at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Edward's Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Church, 8508 Main Street, Campbell. Burial and military honors will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning.

In lieu of flowers those wishing may make donations to "So Others Might Eat" at www.some.org or The Potter's Hands Foundation at www.thepottershandsfoundation.org.

I remember Ed coming in to Fastrac all alone Didn't know if he had family came in bought paper and out the door he went I finally got to know him (as my Mother use to say if you see someone that could use a friend open your heart and let him in) I did I got to know him very well He does have a wonderful family I'm sure I met a lot of them He does have a family and a loving one at that !! I will miss you very much as our names for each other FRED he called me SALLY as he couldn't remember my name so FRED till we meet again just look for a name Sally to meet you at the gate Oh and my Mother is there she would love to meet you her name is Sharon! you will be missed you are a great person. till we meet again Dori

To the Kuehner Family...

To Elmer and Richard...I only read Uncle Ed's obituary today online and send my heartfelt condolences to you all!! He was my favorite uncle..we had many long talks when my father was in Sayre Hospital!! I always loved receiving Christmas cards from him...he'd always sign them,"Love, Uncle Eddie!!" I shall miss him!!!
