Patricia Kenney Obituary

SOUTH PORTLAND
1924 - 2018
Patricia M. Kenney, born Hannah Patricia May Warren, a lifelong resident of South Portland, ME, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the South Portland Nursing Home.
She was born on February 20, 1924 in South Portland a daughter of the late Franklin and Eva (O'Donnell) Warren. She graduated from ST. Joseph's Academy in 1941; then went to work at the South Portland Shipyard during WWII as a telephone operator and moved onto a career at New England Telephone until retiring in 1972.
Patricia was an avid reader and historian; the public library would often order her requested book. Her ultimate dream career would have been as a librarian, which she was very quiet about. She certainly made up for that by always encouraging others to read, taking her children to the library and even her grandchildren to challenge themselves with learning.
She always loved a good joke and could talk about any subject right until she passed. She often amazed everyone and would correct us if we shared the wrong information about politics, finances or world happenings.
Patricia is survived by three daughters Suzanne Orlowski, Diane Collins and Tricia Hopkins and her husband Roy, a son Stephen Kenney and his wife Suzanne, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She also leaves her sister Honora Greer. She was also the sister of the late Helena Anania, Franklin, Matthew and Tennyson Warren. In addition, the family extends her gratitude to her extended family at South Portland Nursing Home for the last eight years, they walked with her during her last life's journey. She spent more time as a social butterfly with all the staff and kept track of everyone's happenings as though they were all her family.
There will be no visiting or services, per her request. Her family will hold a private celebration of her life at a later date. Ma was the Fighting Irish, Boss until the end, doing it her way, and we will honor her request.
