David Lee Thompson, age 75, passed away October 5, 2018 at his home in Silex.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 8, 2018 at the Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Silex. Burial will be in the Sulphur Lick Cemetery in Troy. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
David was born March 30, 1943 in Hawk Point the son of Fred Lee Thompson and Catherine Marie Zumwalt. Survivors include sons Shannon Thompson (Christine) of Eolia, Travis Thompson of Troy; daughter Robin Foltz (Gary) of Springfield, Mo; grandchildren Daniel Thompson, Stephen Thompson, Gavin Thompson, Chase Thompson, Dillan Foltz, Lacie Foltz, Jeremy Foltz, Kyle Foltz, Meagan Bartz, and Mack Foltz; 9 great grandchildren; his significant other Shirley Walton; brothers Gerald Thompson of Whiteside and Darrell Thompson of Elsberry; sister Patricia Thompson of Whiteside; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Lavern and Michael Thompson.
David grew up in Whiteside, graduated from Clopton High School, lived in Auburn Junction until 1986. He then moved to Silex. He worked for the Ford Motor Company, was a member of the United Auto Workers and farmed. David liked to hunt and fish but he especially enjoyed trout fishing.
Memorials may be made to donor's choice.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Thompson, Daniel Thompson, Stephen Thompson, Travis Thompson, Gavin Thompson, Chase Thompson, and Dillan Foltz.
