Josephine Sindelar, age 91, of Alamogordo, passed away on October 4, 2018. Mrs Sindelar was born on January 25, 1927 in Old Town, Kentucky to Harland and Ellen (Justice) Hannah. She was one of eight children. Following school, she moved to San Diego, CA with her brother, Lee. There she met Alvin Sindelar and they were married on April 13, 1957. The Sindelars moved to Alamogordo in 1962. They raised two children. Mrs Sindelar enjoyed the family's frequent travel to places from coast to coast visiting family plus many of the country's great sites, museums, and amusement parks. Mrs Sindelar was very active in the community, especially with organizations supporting children. She served many roles on school Parent Teacher Associations and Booster Clubs. She served as a Girl Scout Leader and helped Boy Scouts earn merit badges. Mrs Sindelar taught Pre-School at Bethel Baptist Church from 1979-1989.
Friends and family paid this tribute to her, "Jo was one of the kindest people you could ever meet, she would open her heart and her home to all. She will be sorely missed." Mrs Sindelar was also a remarkable baker known to always arrive with delicious treats in hand.
Mrs Sindelar was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, her parents, her brothers, and her sisters. Survivors include children Martin Sindelar and Janine Sindelar-Yates; grandchildren Aaron Sindelar, Cheryl Sindelar, Cody Countryman, and Korey Yates; and great-grandchildren Connor Sindelar and Trinity Yates.
The funeral service for Josephine Sindelar will be held Saturday, October 20, at Alamogordo Funeral Home with Viewing at 9 am, Memorial Service at 10 am. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
Pallbearers include the four grandchildren.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. May she be remembered by all who knew her for her kindness and generous spirit. God is good and merciful, he has given us a life span of 70 and 80 years if we are strong. Psalms 90:10. May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times you shared together as you celebrate a life well lived and loved by many.
