Kathryn Z. Murcek, 94, a resident of Golden Heights, formerly of North Huntingdon, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018. She was born Dec. 12, 1923, in Duquesne, a daughter of the late Rev. John and Katherine (Cernacek) Murcek, and was also preceded in death by her siblings, Olga Klevemann, Si, John L., David J., Milan S., Walter A., Daniel B. and Dr. Martin Murcek, Mildred Galla and Milicent Prokop. She was a graduate of Duquesne High School and attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for two years. She was a retired assistant officer for Mellon Bank, Pittsburgh. Kathryn was a member of New Life Presbyterian Church, Harrison City, and formerly active with District 3 Republican Committee, Western Westmoreland Republican Club, the Eagle Forum, Westmoreland County Christian Coalition, National Right to Work Committee and the American Family Association. She received a lifetime achievement award from the Westmoreland County Republican Party. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Dennis Gill, officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
