Barbara Louise Ruggiera Butler, born to Anna A. Schurian Ruggiera (deceased) and Petero A Ruggiera (deceased) at Fort Devens in Shirley, Mass on December 18, 1954, passed away in her sleep the morning of Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the young age of 63. Barbara moved to Rochester, NH in August of 1958 and graduated from Spaulding Highschool in 1972. Her time was spent between NH and Conn to be with both her mother and father. She went on to study nursing in Portsmouth, NH and took care of many children over the years as a newborn caregiver. She purchased the Avon Hotel on Hampton Beach in 1980 with her mother and had many happy years there, including the birth of her son Christopher, in 1985, and the birth of her daughter Ashley, in 1988. She loved the Hampton Police and the special privileges they gave her to do fireworks. Also, being part of the Camaro Club was very important to her. Barbara had many happy memories of being a passenger in her Camaro, racing up and down rt 16 and traveling around New England and Pennsylvania going to Camaro car shows. After the sale of the hotel in 1988, Barbara and her family moved back to Rochester, NH into her house on Old Dover Rd where she began her career as a crafter. She was talented and dedicated to her craft and continued to create beautiful pieces of art until the day she passed. Also, while in Rochester, she pursued many other occupations including working at Dr. Roy's office, fill in nurse/teacher and then administrative assistant at Tri-City Christian Academy (where she sent her children to school), CSM at Walmart, and manager of State Park Store at Hampton Beach. Her final joys were being able to put some of her crafts into the Seacoast Crafter's store in the Fox Run Mall and making new friends and getting healthy with her new-found love of Xyngular. Barbara enjoyed so many things in life – traveling, vacations, skiing, musical theater, paint class, her children, Red Sox baseball games with her sister, and most importantly spending every moment she could with her grandbabies. Barbara was a kind, generous, loving, funny, incredible woman who will be eternally missed. Barbara is survived by her son Christopher Peter Butler, her daughter Ashley Lynn-Ann Butler, her three grandsons Lincoln, Barrett and Wyatt, her two puppies Scooby and Shaggy, and her sister Anna N Ruggiera and her fur baby Schultzy. Barbara's Celebration of Life, followed by a luncheon, will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00am at Tri-City Covenant Church, 150 West High St, Somersworth, NH. In lieu of flowers, please take time to hug your mother/family, tell them you love them and do something special together.

I am devistated. Barbara has been a close neighbor of mine for a number of years and at one time baby-sat my children. Reading this obituary has stunned me beyond words. I will miss seeing her pushing her grandson, Wyatt, in the stroller on a daily basis. RIP Barbara.

To a giving, loving, and loyal friend. I will miss you so very much. She loved her family deeply. You were so talented and creative which you displayed at the craft fairs. You were absolutely the best raffle ticket seller at the class reunions!!!! Of course we always looked like Mutt and Jeff with the differences in our heights. I had to walk 2 steps to match your one but that kept me in better shape. I will never forget our car trip to Washington DC where we ended up in the bad section of town (because I couldn't read the map correctly) and a police officer asked us to hurry up and leave. All we wanted was to stop at this mall to buy a coffee maker. I know that you will be watching over all of us. I am very sure that we will meet again my friend. Until then get heaven ready for us. Forever in my thoughts and memories.

I remember when we met Barbara at Cranmore one day during February Vacation. My two daughters were being their normal selves fighting as only the can do, Barbara was sitting there with Ashley and quietly said "this to will pass', It was the beginning of a tremendous friendship, visits to us in Effingham, and with her in Rochester. Trips to Salisbury. Barbara was a fantastic woman devoted to her family. She touched many lives for the better. Rest In Peace Barbara

Barbara, it has been around 20 years that we have known each other, although we would go months without seeing each other we did chat on Facebook and occasionally the phone. You were always on my mind when we were apart. I enjoyed our times when we went out to dinner or just hung out at your house and visited. you were such an amazing mom to Ashley and Christopher and also an amazing grandmother to those three little boys, when we did talk you always spoke so highly of those little boys and how you loved them so much. I will always hold a piece of your memory in my heart.
Fly high with the angels Barb. love and miss you .
