DeLores P. Wakefield
Phoenix - DeLores P. Wakefield passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. DeLores was born on May 8, 1920 to Joseph E. Pechman and Ann E. (Hora) Pechman in Iowa City, Iowa. She graduated from Iowa City High School in 1938, attended the University of Iowa, and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. During WWII, she worked for Bank of America and Howard Hughes in the cost counting department in California. After the war, she returned to Iowa City and was office manager at Children's Hospital. In 1948, she married Martin V. O'Neill and lived in New Jersey and Texas. In 1964, she returned to Iowa City to care for her father. In 1967, she married Dr. John P. Wakefield and resided in Johnston, Iowa. In 2001, she moved to Cave Creek, AZ. DeLores was an active bridge player and with her Investment Club. She and her husband traveled extensively worldwide, this included taking six large groups of Second Division veterans and families from Omaha Beach to Pilzen, Czechoslovakia, where the war ended. Survived by her daughter and husband, Karel and Bradford Mortz, of Cave Creek, AZ; her son and wife, Dan and Debra O'Neill of Johnston, IA; granddaughter and husband, Rachel and Marlon Reed of Des Moines, IA; and great grandson, Khaleb Reed of Apache Junction, AZ; and special friends, Gerald M. and wife, Leslie Kral. She was preceded in death by husbands: Martin V. O'Neill and Dr. John P. Wakefield; and her sister, Lo Ree P. Kalbach of Des Moines, IA. Visitation will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm, with Rosary 12:30pm, followed by the funeral service at 1:00pm on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale 85254. Entombment will be at 11:00am Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, 23015 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix 85024. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Mayo Clinic, at mayoclinic.org. Visit www.hansenmortuary.com for condolences.

My sympathy to you all. I am sorry for your loss.
I know that Ila and DeLores had many good times together here in Iowa and with their travels and clubs. They did some fun things together and I'm sure that they did with Frank and Jack - the four of them.
I'm glad that we were able to see you all in Arizona ( even though it was a long time ago). I'm sure it was a blessing that you were all together in Arizona for so many years.
