Ralph Green Obituary

Published by Tri-State Funeral Services, Inc. - Washington, DC on Nov. 11, 2018.
Apostle Ralph E. Green is the Founder, Presiding Chief Apostle and Overseer of Free Gospel Deliverance Temple. He was born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1935 to Ambrose and Edith Green from Nelson County, VA. He married his sweetheart, Dr. Shirley M. Green, and they have been happily married for 63 years. They are blessed with three children, 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Apostle and Senior Pastor Green are also spiritual parents to a multitude of families. Apostle Ralph E. Green was a man of valor and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Vision In 1962, Apostle Green formed the Free Gospel Church of the Apostles' Doctrine while located at 51st and E Streets, S.E., Washington, D.C. Free Gospel stands proud and honored to be one of the first Mega Ministries in the Washington Metropolitan area to own and operate a Shopping Center. Apostle Ralph E. Green set-up and traveled worldwide and established ministries in several countries as far away as Africa, Philippines, etc. The other affiliate Free Gospel Churches are: Way of Truth Free Gospel, Wallace, North Carolina, Bishop Curtis West; Free Gospel Church of Culpeper, Culpeper, Virginia, Bishop Harold Smith; Free Gospel Church of Bryans Road, Bryans Road, Maryland, Bishop James Briscoe; Restoration Free Gospel Church, Lexington Park, Maryland, Bishop John Briscoe; Free Gospel Church of King George, King George, Virginia, Bishop Daniel Jones. Under his leadership Apostle Green had a great desire for the Saints of God to be educated. He established the Open Bible Institute for Christian Apologetics (O.B.I.C.A.). Through O.B.I.C.A., hundreds of students have graduated and continue to do so with Associates, Bachelors and Graduate level degrees. As a trailblazer in November 2004, he appointed Dr. Shirley M. Green, to be the Senior Pastor of Free Gospel Deliverance Temple. Prior to this date, women were not permitted to go forth in ministry; however, this epic moment sanctioned women to be ordained. On August 19, 2011 for the first time in the history of Free Gospel, four women servants were ordained as Ministers of the Gospel. Moments of joy and celebration continued on Sunday, August 16, 2015 when Dr. Antoinette Green-Snow was installed as Executive Pastor. Voice As the voice of deliverance, Apostle Ralph E. Green has been ministering under the anointing of the Holy Ghost for over 56 years. These years of ministry have been one of constant revival. Over 50,000 people have been baptized in Jesus Name, thousands filled with the Holy Ghost, and countless wonderful testimonies and witnesses of healing and miraculous deliverance. Valuable Apostle Ralph E. Green was a father to many. He was the epitome of grace and Love. He loved everyone unconditionally. His uncanny ability to love the least of these (Matthew 25:40) and make everyone feel special was remarkable. He gave everyone "100 percent and let them do the deduction" (Apostle R. E. Green). Association - everyone who was acquainted with Apostle, he added value to their lives by his stance and service to God. Demonstration - He authentically embodied the characteristics of true love, a spiritual leader and father worldwide. Impartation - His commitment to salvation, healing and deliverance made him unique and irreplaceable. Victorious Apostle Ralph E. Green organized a 3000-man march in 1991 PACT (People Against Civic Terror) to stop the killing in the streets. His years as a former Golden Glove boxer, equipped him to maneuver, strategize, and bob and weave against every formidable opponent and dominate. Most notably, being evicted from the movie theater; and, then going back and purchasing it. Apostle won many victories in life. 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 (KJV) O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Apostle Ralph E. Green is survived by his beautiful and devoted wife, Senior Pastor, Shirley M. Green; Son, Wayne A. Green/Michelle Green, Shiral Green-Smith/Stanley Smith, Antoinette Green-Snow/David Snow. We had fond memories of this precious soul, Apostle Ralph E. Green. Two of my sisters and their companions were members of the Free Gospel Church Ministry. Our middle sister was married @ the church one Sunday after the morning worship service! We remember a few other couples being married after morning services as well. My most vivid memory of Free Gospel Church was there anointed Noonday Prayer service! Awesome, if you weren't able to receive the Baptism of the HOLY SPIRIT with the evidence of SPEAKING IN TONGUES as the Spirit of God gave you utterance in any other ministry; you
were more than likely to be RICHLY BLESSED to be Baptized with the HOLY GHOST during the Noonday Prayer @ the FREE GOSPEL CHURCH! We no longer reside in the D.C./Maryland area. But we do have several photos of the late Bishop Green taken with myself and one of our nieces. We'll always cherish these photographs and the wonderful memories of the FREE GOSPEL CHURCH. Peace & Rich Blessings in Jesus' Mighty Name! ❤❤❤

My prayers and blessings are with the family. I will never forget Apostle Ralph E. Green. He is truly a man of God. He helped me along life's way, many years ago (1982) and I still stand on the wall fighting the battle for Jesus Christ. Apostle was filled with the word of God and the fire of the Holy spirit. Apostle Green would preach the word of God with fire and power. I love Apostle Green, he was my spiritual father and Apostle Green and Dr. Green were true Christian friends to my mother belated mother , Alberta Boone. Rest in peace Apostle Green, job well done, my good and faithful servant! Dr. Green and family may God continue to empower you all to keep Apostle's Green vision alive!

To the family, Apostle Ralph E. Green is a spiritual father for both me and my family. I was invited to Free Gospel Church in 1981. I was in awe as to how I could see the continuation of the Acts of the Apostles working mightily in the earth. I was filled with the Holy Spirit at this ministry. Bishop always taught strongly the word of God and demonstrated it in his life. I will be forever grateful for the impartation he has made in my life and in my family.
