Rodney Smith Obituary

PITTSTON - Rodney Lewis Smith, 70, of Pittston, formerly of West Gardiner, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta, after a long period of declining health.

He was born in Gardiner, on March 14, 1948, the son of Arthur Lewis and Helen (Morang) Smith.

Rodney graduated from Gardiner Area High School in 1966 and was primarily employed as a tractor trailer driver and heavy construction equipment operator during his working years.

He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur, in 1965 and Helen, in 1999.

Rodney is survived by his brother, Timothy Smith and wife, Shirlee, of Corea, and their daughter, Kate Cooper and family, of Lake Tahoe, Calif.

Tim and Shirlee are very appreciative of the care and attention Rodney received from his dedicated friend, Barbara McKeil and his Pittston neighbors, especially during the past few months.

A private committal will be held in the spring at Maple Grove Cemetery annex in Randolph.

Arrangements are in the care of Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner.
