William Cole Obituary

William George Cole, known to friends as "Bill", passed away on November 19, 2018, at 71 years of age. A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Bill attended Redemptorist High School and graduated from Mississippi State University in 1968 where he participated in the Army ROTC program and received a Bachelor of Science in Business and Industry, specializing in Accounting. He later studied at Louisiana State University where he received a Master of Business Administration in 1970 and went on to attain his CPA in both Louisiana and Texas. After graduation, Bill served in the Army Reserves. Bill had a 45-year career as a financial professional. The first 15 years were spent at the international accounting firm Deloitte &Touche as an auditor and chief consultant. Bill was elected to the firm's partnership after 10 years of providing financial services to clients across a myriad of industries and served as the national recruiter in New York City. The remainder of his career was spent as the Chief Financial Officer of two insurance brokerage firms specializing in insurance coverage for oil and gas exploration. Bill then served as the CFO of Symon Communications for 16 years, which was later acquired by RMG Networks. Bill is also a member of Financial Executives International. Bill will be forever remembered by his wife, Susanna Weigel-Cole, daughters Whitney, her husband Brian, Margaret, 3 grandchildren Jillian Alice, Haley Ann, and Elizabeth Gayle, and one grand-cat, Watson. Bill is preceded in death by his father William Buzby Cole and his mother Rebecca Cousins Cole. He is also survived by his former spouse Donna Mackenroth Cole, brother Robert Cole, and sisters Diane Barineaux and Laurie Roche. Bill was a tried and true LSU Tiger fan and an avid sports enthusiast. He enjoyed golf, the arts, fine wine, good food, friends, family and travel. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held at 10:30 am, on Tuesday, December 4, at Fredricksburg United Methodist Church, 1800 N. Llano Fredericksburg, Texas 78624. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Bill can be made to the American Cancer Society. Attendees are invited to wear purple to recognize Bill's devotion to the LSU Tigers. Arrangements are by the Schaetter Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be sent at www.schaetter.com.
