My deepest condolences to the Diethorn Family. I got to know Phil about 20 years ago, shortly after we moved into our house. He would walk along St. Paul Street and would lean over the fence and talk to me. he would comment on my yard, talk to my kids and we always had a lovely conversation. Every year around my kids' birthdays, he would make sure to stop and give me a $10 bill for them. We invited him to several bd parties as we would be setting up but he would never stop by.
Every Halloween my kids would trick or treat and Phil would always have a full size Hershey's with almonds bar for the kids and for me as well!
If I was in the yard and he was walking by he would stop and we always had a lovely conversation. I loved his stories about the SS, the brewery and his stories about the hijinks he got into when he was a kid. In the summer I would sometimes get him to take a vegetable or two from my garden.
The past few years I didn't see him as much and he told me about some of his health issues, but never complained. He just seemed happy to be able to keep doing his daily walk.
He was a sweet man, a kind soul and I am so happy to have gotten to know him.
May God Bless you all.
With deepest sympathy to your family.
