Clarence J. "C.J." Plummer Jr., 83, of Latrobe, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018. He was born Jan. 19, 1935, in Derry, a son of the late Clarence Plummer Sr. and Elva Blanche Plummer. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Latrobe Area Hospital. C.J. was an Army veteran, having served at Fort Knox and in Germany. He was a member of Latrobe United Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of Loyalhanna Lodge No. 275 F and AM and the White Shrine of Jerusalem. C.J. enjoyed bowling and was a founding member of the Latrobe Area Hospital League, of which he was a member for 45 years. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Louise Goodwin. C.J. is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sallie (Van Kirk) Plummer; two sons, Christopher (wife Colleen), of Greensburg, and Scott (wife Amelia), of Oakmont; and six grandchildren, Hannah, Alex, Hayden, Harmony, Angel and Alana. He is also survived by sisters, Doris Carey, of Latrobe, Laverne Clagett, of Wadsworth, Ohio, and Margaret "Peg" McFarland, of Derry; along with several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. Latrobe-Derry Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military honors at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, in the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Donald Graff officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Latrobe.
