Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Saralee "Sara" R. Clark, age 88, of Garfield, Ga., on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Sam Bowen, Elder Tommy Rountree and Elder John Scott officiating.
Mrs. Clark will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, January 4, 2019, from 5 until 7 p.m.
Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Jason Berry, Jarrett Berry, Carson Clark, Adam Clark, Landon Clark, Stan Akins, Stacy Spivey and Josh Jones.
Mrs. Clark was born on March 13, 1930, in Summit (Twin City), Emanuel County, Georgia, to the late John P. and Lois Hall Rountree. She was a homemaker and high school graduate and salutatorian of Emanuel County Institute class of 1948 and a member of Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Clark loved her church and church family. She enjoyed singing, reading, loved to cook and spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Clark was caretaker for her husband for 23 years.
She leaves many of her creations in cross-stitching, needlepoint and quilting to her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ivey Hall Clark; a sister, Euris Edenfield; and two brothers, Ray Rountree and John Lindsey Rountree.
Survivors include: two daughters, Carolyn Deal (James) of Statesboro, Ga.; and Mary Berry (Rick) of Lyons, Ga.; three sons, James Clark (Melanie) of Baxley, Ga.; Clay Clark (Melanie) of Garfield, Ga.; and John Clark (Gayle) of Statesboro, Ga.; one sister, Ruth Harris of Augusta, Ga.; 11 grandchildren, Leslie Deal Akins, Jason Berry, Jarrett Berry, Eva Spivey, Carson Clark, Kristen Clark, Kara Clark, Landon Clark, Rachel Clark, Adam Clark and Ashleigh Jones; 14 great-grandchildren.
