Jeffrey Brost Obituary

Jeffrey G. Brost, 71, of St. Charles, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019 after a two year battle with cancer. He was born on September 27, 1947 in Chicago the son of Gerald & Lillian Vratrich Brost.Jeff married his high school love on May 27, 1967. They enjoyed 51 years together, traveling the United States, the Caribbean islands and Europe. He was employed with Armin Industries for over 40 years and retired as Vice President of Manufacturing. Jeff also enjoyed his private pilot's license. As a man, he was definitely one of a kind. He always liked to be different and push the boundaries whether it has was his yellow fuzzy snowmobile helmet, building a hovercraft, or organizing the annual pig roast. As a Husband, he was a partner with Wanda from the beginning. They created a beautiful life filled with love and adventures. Wonderful homes in both Illinois and South Dakota, children and grandchildren and many happy memories. Jeff and Wanda were true soulmates. As a Father, he is irreplaceable. We have had more good times sitting around the kitchen table laughing and reminiscing, playing cards and Pictionary. He showed us America and all it had to offer, but we always ended with a week in South Dakota, fishing and visiting with family. He gave us endless love, humor and stories. As Papa Jeff, he excelled. No one would ever doubt the love he had for his grandsons. I don't think he found greater joy then when he was wrestling on the floor with the boys. He made going home fun with Treats for the Road, the invention of Pants Day for the pool, and helping all three boys with Pinewood Derby. As a Brother, he was protective and caring but also did typical older brother stunts. Jeff, Dad, Papa Jeff - I'm sure you knew how much we loved you, but I don't think you were aware of how big a hole you would leave. You are with us forever. Moe, Larry the Cheese. Survivors include his wife, Wanda M. Peschong Brost, a son Allen (Shelly) Brost, a daughter Leah (Scott) Crary; grandchildren: Nathan, Hayden Brost and William Crary; a sister Jerrilyn (Tom Dolan) Holst; brother -in-law Jerry Wagner. He is also survived by his niece Lisa (Keith) Smith; nephews Matthew (Janice) Holst; Jeffrey (Kelsey) Holst and great nieces Chelsea, Lauren Smith, and Madelyn Holst. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Susan Wagner. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 36W720 Hopps Rd., Elgin. Burial will be in the Hampshire Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Chicago. For Information 847-741-8800 or www.lairdfamilyfuneralservices.com.

God speed, Jeff. I always knew you were a well-liked family man, but had no idea the difference you made in so many lives of those who knew you. Proud to have known you over many years.
