Thomas Costello Obituary

Thomas V. Costello

Briarcliff Manor - Thomas V. Costello, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019. He was born to Mary and Vincent Costello in Jersey City, NJ on March 13, 1927. He grew up in Clinton, MA and graduated from Clinton H.S. in 1944. "Tom" enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945 and served until his honorable discharge in 1946. He attended Seton Hall College on the G.I. Bill, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1949. Following a Sales Manager position for the Patchogue Plymouth lace cloth division, he moved to Bromley Sales, Inc., where he was promoted to Vice President. In 1958, Tom became a salesman for Linens by Vera. Several years later, he left for CA to become the West Coast Manager for Wamsutta Mills. Tom returned to the East Coast and Linens by Vera in 1968 where he worked for the remainder of his career. He rose through the ranks to become President and CEO of the Vera Companies. After his retirement in 1993, he split his time between the East and West Coasts. He was a voracious reader and avid walker who also enjoyed spending time with his large extended family. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Marion, his six children: M. Elaine Costello (Larry Eckert), Thomas L. Costello (Lynda), Michael V. Costello (Rebecca), Jean Costello, John F. Costello (Dawn), James A. Costello, and his 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his three brothers—Jay, Mickey, and Harry—and by his infant son, David Michael. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on February 19, 2019 at Dorsey Funeral Home, 14 Emwilton Place, Ossining, NY from 4:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 381 North Highland Ave., Ossining, NY.
