Arthur J. Schroff, Jr., of North Brunswick, New Jersey, passed away on his 80th birthday, Monday, March 4, 2019, at St. Peter's Hospital in New Brunswick. Arthur was born in New Brunswick on March 4th, 1939 to Arthur J. Schroff, Sr., and Ruth Stauber. He married Roberta Stephens on December 26th, 1965. He later married Barbara Majewski on February 15th, 2010. Arthur graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois, with a degree in business in 1961. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon at IWU. He later received his M.B.A. from Seton Hall University. Arthur was an accountant with ASARCO in New York City before transferring to Peoria, Illinois, where he spent many years as the business manager for ASARCO's Midland Coal Company. In retirement, Arthur was a bus driver for First Student Bus Company in Monmouth Junction, New Jersey. Arthur had a tremendous love of music and was a former choir member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Brunswick. He also performed with the Bradley University Chorale and was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church choir in Peoria. He loved singing, gardening, golfing, and cheering for the New York Yankees. He loved watching his children's sporting events and enjoyed taking his children ice skating and swimming at Wedgewood Swim Club. His family will miss his sharp wit and tremendous sense of humor. They are grateful for the many laughs and lasting memories that Arthur gave them. His grandchildren are actively carrying on his musical gifts! Arthur was preceded in death by his parents Arthur J. Schroff, Sr. and Ruth (Stauber) Schroff. Surviving are his wife of nine years, Barbara (Majewski) Schroff; his five children - Arthur J. Schroff, III (Andrea) of Germantown Hills, IL; David Schroff of Peoria, IL; Lisa (Cuneyt) Barutcu of Springfield, IL; Kristen (Nick) D'Alfonso of Morton, IL; and Robert Schroff of Bloomington, IL; his sister Elise Schroff Parish (Dan) of Sun City, AZ; his brother Robert Schroff of Rockland, ME; and his eight grandchildren – Brady, Alexander, and Carter Schroff, Tolga, Melis, and Tarkan Barutcu, and Will and Amelia D'Alfonso. Services were private under the direction of The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N. Main St-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. We will miss you Art. I will miss taking to you once a year around Christmas.
Will always remember our softball and basketball games and the tremendous throw from deep center field to me at third base, with a bit of fake casualness we made the putout.
