I have great memories of John from being chased away when I first met him because I parked in front of the cottage in the view! (a mistake I never made again) to his friendly welcoming embrace and intellectual sparring of the last 20 years or so. Always a pleasure to visit him on the farm, and it was a bonus to spend time with him in Ireland two years ago. He made my life richer and I treasure his memory. Vale John McConaghy. //Derek Pugh
