My late Mum nursed with Betty too - a strong thread here of career links. It is not surprising that, choosing a caring pathway for work, Betty was also a caring, compassionate friend in her everyday life. I have loved knowing her at Discovery Christian Centre and valued her wisdom and support.

On behalf of the Bird family, and our late mum, and fellow nurse Marie Bird, our thoughts are with Betty's family at this time.
Truely a lovely, lovely lady that will be remembered as a very good friend to mum and someone who always seemed to have smile and a kind word. Betty will not be forgotten.

On January 9th 1951, 60 young ladies entered Waikato Hospital Nursing School intake and Betty and I were amongst these ladies. We survived the 3 to 4 years of strict discipline, gaining knowledge of humanity, caring and loyalty. Over the years we girls have met for reunions every 5 years, then every year. Betty hosted the 50th Anniversary of our reunion. Lots of happy memories remain with me of my life long friend. Moera and I enjoyed a morning tea with Betty in her new abode in Judea only recently. My deepest sympathy to Betty's family.
