Paula Granja
Eatontown great-grandmother, came to U.S. from Cuba in 1960
Paula (Moreno) Granja, 87, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at her home.
Born Camaguey, Cuba, she came to the USA in 1960. Paula had lived in Newark, (Ironbound Section), Union City, Keansburg and Eatontown, N.J.
Paula was a welder and solderer for Western Electric, where she put together the insides of telephones. She retired from Chase Pharmaceutical, Newark, N.J.
Her passion was to dance and listen to music, as well as singing every now and then. Paula loved to travel and most of all spend time with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, German and Balbina (Cerventes) Moreno; her husband, Oscar, and her son, Oscar "Baby" Perez Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Marta Ayon and Marlene Perez, with whom she lived; grandchildren, Lazaro Ayon, Desiree Morejon, Jorge Morejon Jr., and Melissa Rivera Gordon, seven great-grandchildren and her sister, Edesa Moreno.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick, N.J. Funeral Mass is Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of Mount Virgin R.C. Church (parish of the visitation), corner of Sandford St. and Remsen Ave., New Brunswick, N.J. Cremation is private.
