Carol Edwards

Greenwood, Indiana. Carol Lynn (Timko) Edwards, 65, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019, following a brief illness. Her family was at her side. Carol was born on December 22, 1953 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Her parents were George T. and Irma L. (Wood) Timko. Carol graduated from Garfield High School in 1971 and was a graduate of Indiana State University with both Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education. She held two teaching licenses in both Indiana and Missouri. Beginning her teaching career, Carol taught in Missouri for two years. After moving to Greenwood, she taught at Isom Central Elementary School for a few short years and later moved to Southwest Elementary School, both in Greenwood Community School Corporation. She retired in 2010. Carol married John A. Edwards on March 20, 1976. Carol is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, John, one daughter, Kathryn Edwards of Greenwood, one sister, Sharon (Tom) Taylor of Terre Haute, two nieces, Rebecca (James) Wiesneth of Terre Haute, and Laura (Phil) Turner of Greenwood, two great-nieces, Madelynn Wiesneth and Caroline Turner, one great-nephew, Andrew Wiesneth, and one sister-in-law, Susan Edwards of Indianapolis. Carol was very close to her Wood Cousins, Susan Clements, Joan Grove, Glenna Farrugia, Carol (Hahn) Wood, and Marilyn Elston, as well as her Timko Cousins, Jackie Eggerman and Fred Timko. Besides her parents, Carol was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey A. Edwards and cousins Robert Wood and Michael Timko. Over the last few years, Carol became an avid writer, publishing many articles in the Johnson County Daily Journal newspaper and published three books about her family. In addition, Carol loved her cabin in Brown County, Indiana, enjoyed family vacations, and treasured rich holiday traditions. She will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends. A visitation will be held Sunday, May 5th from 2-6 P.M. at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, 481 West Main Street, Greenwood, In 46142. A funeral service will begin at 6 P.M. A second visitation will be held Monday, May 6th from 12-2 P.M. at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street, Terre Haute, In 47803.
