My deepest condolences to the Chase family. I was so fortunate to have moved to N. O. with my husband Brian Mickler back in 1977 and was introduced to Mrs. Chase by Jim Dombrowski, my husband's uncle who was very much involved with the civil rights movement in the 60's. Jim would hold his dinner art party at Dooky Chase restaurant every Dec. I was so fortunate to know Mrs. Chase. We will truly miss her beautiful smile! R.I.P.

To the lovely Chase family, and especially our old Loyola friend Dooky, Maureen and I are honored to have met your Mom at the restaurant, and are surely glad we did, while there was still time. And get this, in 2006 we were in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts and sure enough there was an article in their local daily newspaper--Leah was raising money for storm victims up there, and at first we were amazed, and then after thinking about it, it was sort of natural for her to help others. We know she's smiling down on her family now.

Dear Edgar ("Dooky")111,Leah and all Family:
I was so sad to hear about your mother's passing (wonderful, spirited Mrs. Leah Chase). We are all so blessed
to have experienced her existence and definitely her award winning "hit and whip" in the kitchen. Her life is one never ever to be gone unnnoticed!
It's something special even beyond Nola and Dooky Chase that your mother "light a spark of zest and hope"
for the civil rights of many in our world!
Yes, she rocks...what a lady. Dooky Chase has held a warm, "feel like home" place in my heart...
God speed.

Dear Family and Friends of:
The Late and Great, Mrs. Leah Chase
Wish we could have met her, and enjoyed her sounding good cooking. We send our Condolences to Family and Friends, and hope that the memories (I'm sure there's many) comfort your heart.
She reached a milestone. As stated in Psalms: 90:10. the life span is 70 years. Or 80 if someone is especially strong. She surpassed that.
Please know that the God of all Comfort, will
Comfort your heart. Matthew 5:4

Our women's church group didn't get to meet Mrs. Chase on our visit in New Orleans of 2016, however, her daughter was so gracious to us. She gave us history of how the restaurant came about and it was like walking into history where major life changing decisions were being made regarding our civil rights. It was awesome! It was truly an honor being there. I just want to thank the Chase family for all that the family has done at the direction of their mother. May our Lord and Savior give you great comfort in the passing of your matriarch that did wonderful things while she was here on earth! Trust in the Lord!

Not letting us order, but saying she would bring us what she wanted us to have, got a "Yes Ma'am." Windsor enjoyed his visits with her as they "talked food." Now they can talk as long as they want. The first time I heard the name Leah Chase was on The Julia Child Cooking Show. Miss Leah fried some chicken. I believe she demonstrated how to cut up a whole chicken as well. Her recipe was what I used to fry chicken for the very first time. And let me tell you it was the best I had ever had. Throughout the years I have tried different recipes but none compare to Miss Leah
She has another recipe for fried chicken I plan on trying very soon. I want to thank you, Miss Leah, for your advice and cooking techniques. I was never taught how to cook but you showed me how to have the patience and love for cooking. God bless you
To the family and friends of Miss Leah, you are all in my prayers.

Leah welcomed me into the kitchen and sat patiently twice, with a broad smile on her face. She told me the stories of New Orleans and Southern Louisiana as seen through her eyes - so my novels could be authentic. Leah Chase reminded me of my mother. Always a smile to share - always a good word - always a helping hand up. God speed, Ms Leah.

It was an awesome experience to finally get the chance to dine in your restaurant (December 6, 2018), after hearing the wonderful stories from my Mom over the years, about the famous "Dooky Chase Restaurant". It was such a pleasure to meet you and for you to take the time out to talk to Michael and I, and take a photo with us, while making us feel right at home. Thank you for the stories you shared with us about the musicians, you and Mr. Chase coming to Mobile, Al., and eating the flounder you said you so loved! Also, thank you for the encouraging words you gave us and for the service you provided to many. Rest well Mrs. Chase #QueenOfCreoleCuisine. Our condolences to the Chase family.
